Tornado Hits Denver International Airport

An EF-1 tornado ran directly over the weather station at Denver International Airport, which recorded a wind gust of 97 mph. Remarkably, the weather station was not destroyed, and continued to transmit data after the tornado had passed. There was no major damage reported at the airport.

Did you know that...
On this date in 2001, a strong tornado with winds of 200 mph ripped through Siren, Wis., destroying its main street. The warning siren, normally used to give residents advance warning of an oncoming storm, was non-opertional due to it being struck by lightning in April.
