Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Little Rock Arkansas
320 am CDT Thursday Jun 20 2013
Short term...today through Monday
Middle to high level clouds were drifting into Arkansas from the
west...resulting in partly cloudy skies across the County Warning Area. Regional
radar imagery showed no precipitation across and in vicinity of the state
this morning...with temperatures across the County Warning Area in the upper 60s to low
70s. Could see some patchy fog through sunrise before dissipating
shortly thereafter.
Precipitation chances will remain fairly limited through this afternoon once
again. Some isolated rain showers/thunderstorms and rain will be possible however...with best
chances across the far north and northwestern counties as a weak disturbance
aloft moves east just north of the state. Upper ridge axis just to
the west will gradually shift east...with the upper ridge expanding
more into Arkansas by Friday. As this happens...precipitation chances will be
limited...and generally in the form of diurnally driven afternoon
isolated shra/tsra. Highs through Friday will be in the upper 80s to
middle 90s...with morning lows in the middle 60s to low 70s.
Over the weekend...weak upper disturbance will retrograde back northwest
after wobbling over the southeastern Continental U.S.. as this happens...some increased
potential for precipitation will exist across the east and southeastern counties by
late in the weekend. However...will keep probability of precipitation only slight chance for
Sun afternoon once again as there remains uncertainty on how far northwest
this weak upper disturbance will move...and how much influence it
will have at that time.
&&
Long term...Monday through Wednesday
Little change in the overall weather pattern is expected through the period. High pressure
aloft will result in a typical summertime pattern across the middle south.
Isolated rain showers/thunderstorms and rain will be possible...mainly during the afternoon and early
evening hours. However...due to the limited coverage expected...dry
conds will continue to be indicated. Went with persistence regarding temperatures
through the period. Highs will be in the upper 80s to middle 90s...with nighttime
lows in the upper 60s to middle 70s.
