Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Shreveport la
900 PM CDT Sat may 18 2013
Discussion...
quiet Summer like weather expected through at least Sunday morning as
ridging ahead of long wave trough centered over Colorado to keep area rain
free. Some thunderstorms may move into the west portions of deep East Texas and
extreme southeast OK by Sunday evening...but these should diminish after
sunset with loss of daytime heating if they indeed do move this
far east.
Strong srly surface flow to develop along and ahead of the Texas and OK
dryline during late Sunday morning through sunset. Have elected to
Post a lake Wind Advisory for our East Texas and southeast OK counties
accordingly as we approach a Holiday weekend. Further east...the flow
should remain just below lake Wind Advisory criteria across southern Arkansas
and northern la. /Viii/

Aviation...
Cumulus field has just about dissipated across the region this evening
with increasing cirrus upstream noted on infrared imagery across southeast into
central Texas. Low level moisture will once again be on the increase
overnight in the form of MVFR ceilings. Expect the I-20 corridor
terminals to see this in the 06-10z timeframe but not quite sold on
reductions in visibilities as was the case last night. Haze not
nearly as prominent at this time compared to 24 hours ago but may go ahead
and tempo a 3-5 mile visibility either side of sunrise at most
locations.
As was the case this morning...expecting MVFR/tempo IFR conditions
to scatter out in the 15-17z timeframe. An increasing pressure
gradient on Sunday will result in strong S winds sustained near
12-15kts with gusts as high as 25kts at the tyr/ggg/txk/shv
terminals during the late morning/afternoon hours on Sunday.
