Statement as of 2:22 PM PDT on May 22, 2013 ... Gale Warning remains in effect until 9 PM PDT this evening... * winds and seas... across the western portion of The Channel northwest winds will increase to 15 to 25 kt this afternoon with gusts to 35 kt. The strong winds will continue through this evening before diminishing. Steep combined seas will build to 7 to 9 feet this afternoon and evening. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or occurring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe Harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.
