Statement as of 10:55 am AKDT on May 16, 2012 ... Public information statement... The papd (pedro dome) WSR-88D Doppler weather radar covering the Fairbanks area and nearby areas will be out of service from Aug 20 2012 to Sep 2 2012 for installation and checkout of dual- polarization upgrade hardware and software. Radar products from the Pedro Dome WSR-88D will not be available during this time period. This radar is expected to be back in service on September 3 2012. The paec (nome) WSR-88D Doppler weather radar covering the Nome area and nearby areas will be out of service from July 9 2012 to July 22 2012 for installation and checkout of dual-polarization upgrade hardware and software. Radar products from the Nome WSR-88D will not be available during this time period. This radar is expected to be back in service on July 23 2012 Any questions regarding these scheduled radar outages should be directed to the National Weather Service forecast office at Fairbanks AK. Rf
