... Lakeshore Flood Advisory remains in effect until 2 PM EDT
/1 PM CDT/ this afternoon...
* winds... north winds will continue to gust to around 40 mph
early this morning. Winds will then slowly diminish through
* Waves... early this morning... expect pounding waves up to 13
feet along the western shore of Upper Michigan and up to 15
feet along the shore of north central Upper Michigan. Waves
heights will then steadily lower through the day as winds
diminish. By evening... wave heights should range from around 5
feet along the shore of western Upper Michigan to around 8
feet along the shore of north central Upper Michigan.
* Impacts... high waves this morning will lead to beach erosion and
flooding of low-lying areas along the Lake Superior
shoreline... especially along Lakeshore Boulevard in the city of
Marquette. Additionally... a portion of the Au Train river near Lake
Superior in Alger County is experiencing elevated river levels due
to back water effects from the high waves. The back water effects
may be problematic for portions of other rivers and streams near
A Lakeshore Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds will
generate flooding of low areas along the Lakeshore.
