Statement as of 4:49 AM MDT on May 22, 2013 ... Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from this evening through Thursday morning for elevations above 6000 feet... A Winter Storm Watch for elevations above 6000 feet remains in effect from this evening through Thursday morning. * Timing and main impact: rain will develop over the Rocky Mountain front this afternoon and become moderate to heavy at times tonight. Snow levels will gradually lower to around 6000 feet after midnight. Above 6000 feet... snow may be heavy at times late tonight through Thursday morning. * Snow accumulations: total snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches are possible above 6000 feet with isolated amounts near 15 inches possible above 7000 feet along the Continental Divide. * Visibility: visibilities could be reduced to less than one half mile at times. * Elevations: for elevations above 6000 feet. * Other impacts: accumulating snowfall will mainly impact areas above the elevation of Marias Pass on Highway 2... however reduced visibility and slush buildup on the roadway are possible late tonight through Thursday morning. Those venturing to elevations above 6000 feet in Glacier National Park and the bob marchall wilderness areas should be prepared for wintry conditions. * Locations affected include: elevations above 6000 feet in the Glacier National Park and the bob Marshall wilderness region. * To see a graphical representation of this hazard please visit.
