... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 6 PM Thursday to noon
The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for freezing rain and sleet... which is in effect from
6 PM Thursday to noon CST Friday.
* Impacts: dangerous driving conditions due to icy roads.
* Timing: freezing rain and sleet will spread south into the
Concho Valley... including San Angelo... late Thursday afternoon
and Thursday evening... and farther south into the Interstate 20
corridor Thursday night.
* Accumulations: a mixture of freezing rain and sleet will result
in ice accumulations of one tenth to one quarter inch. If the
precipitation falls mainly as sleet... accumulations will be
higher. With ground temperatures falling to well below
freezing... ice will develop easily on area roadways... especially
bridges and overpasses. Even a little ice accumulation on
roadways can be dangerous.
* Dangerous wind chill readings will also be possible... dropping
into the teens by Friday morning.
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
