Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms extend from near Groesbeck northward to Waxahachie and through the eastern side of the metroplex northward to Gainesville. These showers and storms are generally moving to the north at 20 mph. Very heavy rainfall and cloud to ground lightning will be the main threats although wind gusts to 40 mph have also been reported. Boaters should be especially cautious on area lakes for lightning! Motorists should be aware of flooding of low lying areas especially in urban areas and after dark.
