A large low pressure system over the Pacific northwest brought unusually cold temperatures to southwest Washington and northwest Oregon on Wednesday. Record coldest daily high temperatures were set at multiple locations. Heavy rainfall also affected parts of the region... with several stations setting new daily rainfall records.
Following are the stations that set new coldest high temperature records.
... At Portland Oregon Airport... a record coldest maximum temperature of 50 degrees was set at the Portland Oregon Airport on Wednesday. This breaks the old record of 55 degrees set in 1980.
This also ties for the 3rd coldest high temperature ever recorded at the Portland Oregon Airport during the month of may.
... At Portland Oregon downtown... a record coldest maximum temperature of 48 degrees was set at the Portland Oregon downtown site on Wednesday. This breaks the old record of 50 degrees set in 1905.
