The National Weather Service in Duluth MN has issued a
* Flood Advisory for...
Ashland County in northwest Wisconsin...
this includes the city of Ashland...
southeastern Bayfield County in northwest Wisconsin...
Iron County in northwest Wisconsin...
north central Sawyer County in northwest Wisconsin...
* until 315 am CDT Monday
* at 912 PM CDT Ashland County sheriff reported water over a portion
of Highway 2 in Ashland due to water on the Road. The Highway is
down to two lanes in town. Heavy rain has occurred already today
across eastern Bayfield County and over the western half of
Ashland County. Radar continued to indicate thunderstorms over all
of Ashland County... with lighter rain over Bayfield County. Expect
the storms to move east through Iron County this evening.
Additional storms may develop yet tonight over much of northwest
Wisconsin... leading to more flooding issues. Expect area rivers
and streams to rise overnight.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.
