Kari Kiefer

Kari was born in a suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota and went to school at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to study Atmospheric Science. While focusing on Air Pollution Meteorology and Severe Weather, she also completed a minor in Mathematics. After 22 years of bitterly cold winters, she yearned for some warm weather and sunny skies. Kari moved to California upon accepting an offer for graduate school at San Jose State University. In May 2010, she received a MS in Meteorology and Climate Science and focused on Fire Weather Research. Throughout her last year of graduate work, she worked for Applied Weather Technologies, where she learned about ship routing and marine forecasting. Soon-thereafter, she accepted a Meteorologist position with Weather Underground.

While not working, Kari likes to forecast for her many outdoor activities in northern California, including camping, hiking, biking, skiing, and snowboarding.
