A good start to the holiday weekend, fog starting to burn off, temp a pleasant 14C, to clear and hit the mid 20's by this afternoon. Similar conditions for the weekend, possible Tstorms by this evening.
The weather nice for this part of the world, friends south of the 49th not the case, extreme heat, little relief in sight. This morning large part of the country without electricity. The fog a minor statement when mentioning weather conditions.
Rob off to work, however is getting the next couple of days off, dosen't mind the hours, converts to cash. Emily remains in Quispam, returning tomorrow her summer employment starts on Monday.
Lobster gear now ashore, fellows will catch their breath for a bit then start overhauling the gear for next fall.

Weather conditions as near to ideal as one could expect, especially to start the long weekend. Temp a pleasant 17C, bright sun, a slight draft from SSW, temp to rise a bit into low 20's. A forecast of possible Tstorms this evening. Same forecast till first of the week, a keeper for sure.
Lots of traps making their way home for the next few months. Rob helping off load some of his employers boats, figured they handled over 800 traps yesterday. Has his first payday between his pocket and the bank, all is well with the world. Emily having a grand time prior to her summer employment, mini-golf and movies, today to Moncton for a day at MAGIC MOUNTAIN water park, great weather to be enjoying the day.
Managed a quick trip to St. Stephen yesterday a bit of Cross Border shopping and now Shauna in possession of her NEXUS Card, two boats travelling a great conveniance coming and going time wise. The first time have been aboard the GRAND MANAN V in many months, she seems pretty small at first glance compared to the ADVENTURE.

A nice looking morning, sunrise bright, now beginning to show some cloud cover, a slight westerly movement of air. Temp to rise near 20C, with overcast and showers for today. Holiday weekend looking good, sun and higher temps.
Emily still at her second residence, whathisname working yesterday, she went exploring spent the afternoon with her friend in St. George. A first bit of exploration, no map or electronic reader for her, last time she did that she headed toward Moncton when she was supposed to be headed for Blacks Harbour. Rob put in a full day loading and unloading traps, did not see much of him once he got home.
Lots of trap gear ashore, all supposed to be on shore by tomorrow night, where did the season get to.

Sun attempting to take hold, a brisk southerly keeps the fog entering the harbour, temp a pleasant 13C. Looking for possible showers but clearing trend with higher temps as the day and week progresses.
Emily well settled in Quispam, Donna has the odd short txt, seems she has other things on her mind. Next week she commences summer work at the Club. Rob busy with lobster season coming to a close, boats coming most of the day landing traps and selling a few lobsters each time. Next week should be quieter for MG FISHERIES.
Lobster rise in catch was not sustained, back to poor or slightly better in most comments. A longtime till late November for another chance to make a year out of it. Still hearing a few Enterprises being bought and sold.

The promised rain, and wind has arrived overnight. Heavy rain in the forecast for the day, temps to rise into the 20's, winds remains NE, calling for strong SE later on in the day. Similar condtions in the forecast for the remainder of the week.
Emily managed to have her tooth repaired, then off to Quispam for a few days. Whatshisname a couple of days off, and she dosen't start her duties till next week. Rob still in harness, out the door at 0730 this morning, an hour later than has been the case.
Weather conditions not conducive for landing traps ashore in any large quantities today. A few the guys will haul, bait, and bring a small amount home. Herring news still quiet, believe a few in the wiers on the back of the island no suggestion any large amount.

Clear, a southerly draft, a harbinger of wet and windy weather in the forecast for tomorrow, onto the remainder of th week. Temp 13C, expect muggy temps into mid 20's by this afternoon.
Quite a bit of southerly for tomorrow, 40KPH plus. Traps will come home early or will bunch up for the last couple of days in hopes of getting enough good weather to have them on the bank by 29th. Improvement in the catch seems to be 'spotty' not overall, now hopes move to fall for the ones that never come ashore this season.
Emily off this week, has a tooth for repair, then strong indications some unfinished visiting to get caught up on in Quispam. Hardly have a word with Rob, gone this morning at 0700, into the evening before he returns to the ranch. If he is able has other interests than passing time with his grandfather for sure.

The damp weather continues, with a soaker rain currently underway, thunder rumbling a couple of hours ago. Temp 12C, total calm, showers for remainder of the day, clearing overnight, rain again by Tuesday.
Emily did a babysitting gig last evening, enough cash for a trip to Quispam prior to work starting next week. Rob up and gone early getting lobster inventory on the move to Boston I suspect.
Summer routine in the fishing industry a week away, not much activity in the weir area, especially on the front of the island. Tourist traffic on the increase, the GRAND MANAN V starts her trips tomorrow I believe with both boats running ability to move 1K of autos daily till after Labour Day.

The weatherman has it correct, rain, not showers in commence. Calm, 14C, to rise very little, rain for the weekend. The grounds are in need of a bit of a natural drink, will put the best face on it with that statement.
Emily in the house for the weekend, whatshisname working the weekend, she has a tooth in need of repair. Once chip is replaced off to Quispam for a couple of days, following week job gets in the way. A busy summer for her and Rob. Rob started on Wed. at MG, hasn't stopped. Between rockweed harvest and lobster buying long days, but he is enjoying himself, a little cash makes the world a bit brighter for sure.
Final week of lobster fishing underway, they have to be on the bank by 29th. Catch, of course, seems to be more productive than previous several weeks.

Another change in the weather showers the order of the day, still warm, calm, threat of thunder later on in the day, similar conditions expected for the remainder of the weekend.
Emily reporting in she is on the road from Quispam, having spent a few days on the mainland. Rob now working at M.G. FISHERIES, seems to be getting up on time, even prepared to get moving this morning without a little coaxing. His love interest on Safe Grad trip to SIX FLAGS, returning today.
Another week remains in the Lobster Season, catch reported to be a bit better this past week or so, probably not enough to make up for the downturn of the past several weeks. No herring news don't believe any twine on the weirs on the front of the island, a few have gone to market from back of the island.

Total calm, harbour reflecting pond calm, with the odd bird making a disturbance. Temp already warm at 17C, overcast, a bit of showers overnight, expect to be clear and hot by noon. Similar conditions next day or so. Just to the south of us well in the 30's Celcius for temps, too much for me.
Graduation aftermath all but forgotten, Emily visiting the other side of the house in Quispam complete with dinners and other social activities. Rob gainfully employed with M.G. FISHERIES, right now between lobsters and rockweed harvest having lots to do.
A few more STRANGERS FROM AWAY evident when one on the highway. Hopefully a good tourist season in the offing. Have heard folks mention the MARS BAR effort viewed on TV or YOUTUBE has been a factor in locating our bit of the world.

A breezy SW @ 15-20KPH, foggy with visibility down to less than 1/2 mile, muggy 13C. Forecast suggesting clearing and temps in mid 20's the clearing unlikely as long as wind remains SW, similar conditions for tomorrow.
Graduation Ceremony grand event a fitting culmination of the lead up of the last number of weeks. Class small with only 19 grads crossing the stage. Lots of emotion on the stage and in the audiance, now an opportunity to catch a breath and prepare for the fall.
Emily and whathisname off to Quispam this afternoon, Rob in harness being picked up at 0700 to get some hours in, both should have a busy summer. Rob requires cash for whatever, and Emily for university.

The great sunny weather has departed, for the moment at least. Overcast, a southerly draft, temp 11C, not a great deal of improvement in the forecast for the next day or so.
The good weather stayed long enough for the preliminary pictures, and the GRAND MARCH. Pictures taken in a great location, the MARCH well attended and worth the price of admission for sure. The party afterward hosted by one of the parents of a grad. All hands in one place loud music and fellowship. Our wards home very early, fine with me was able to fulfill my duties as designated driver and get most of a night in the rack.
Today is almost anticlimatic with the Graduation Ceremony commencing at noon. A number of the grads headed to SIX FLAGS for Safe Grad, Emily has declined her best buddy not making the trip and rides have no interest for her. She will be returning whathisname to Quispam tomorrow, and visiting for a day or so before beginning her summer routine.

A nice looking morning in commence, however southerly could change things a bit. Currently overcast, total calm, a cool 7C, calling for 'patchy fog' with temps to rise into mid teens.
The order of the day is GRAND MARCH, Emily off to have her nails done, pick up whathisname of the boat, before noon. All hands get dressed visit around prior to photo op at scene of post MARCH then MARCH and of the the party, tent, professional DJ's, all hosted by parents of one of the grads. Seems the actual Graduation Ceremony takes second to this effort today. Rob off sometime this morning to part of Rachels day getting prepared. The afternoon Church Service yesterday very well done and attended by all.

Another fine looking morning in commence, a bit of high clouds, cool @ 10C, just a slight draft now and then, mainly calm. Similar conditions for the day temps might make it to mid teens by this afternoon.
Emilys' right of passage begins today with the Bacalauret(phonetic) Church Service this afternoon. Whathisname arrives tomorrow, Grand March and subsequent evening festivities tomorrow, graduation on Tuesday. Rob will be in attendance in all festivities, under grad and usher at Graduation, his girlfriend a graduate lots going on for the next day or so.
Fishing news remains dismal, as far as I can tell, certainly not many traps in the harbour. Guys attempting to locate where they are 29th they have to be ashore.

Back looking across the harbour this morning, not a great day underway. Stiff NE breeze, temp 12C, overcast expected to clear, temp to rise abit. Similar conditions for tomorrow and first of the week.
The Grad Class held a Family Picnic at the Anchorage last evening. Ideal weather conditions held till function over, wind come up and turned cool. A fine group of future care takers of the community one of the few times remaining they will be together as a group. Just the older folks think in these areas I suppose they just want to move on ASAP. Tomorrow Church Service, Monday Prom, Tuesday Grad, busy times for sure.
Conference went well, the Grand Prize is drawn at the last submission, most often by that time group in attendance very sparse. This year the Prize was a Whale Watching Tour and overnight accomodation on Grand Manan, kept a big crowd till the very end.

This morning a fine indeed, bright sun, a small draft moving some air around, temp in the mid teens looking great for the remainder of the day and weekend.
Conference group breaking this afternoon for "Leisure Time", one bunch taking advantage of the golf course, those remaining are either taking a boat tour or a high speed zodiac trip around Passamaquoddy Bay. No Canadian Tire here so will make a quick run to St.Stephen and no doubt a Cross Border foray is in order. A heavy schedule another Banquet tonight, last night the menu was steak&lobster just prime rib or salmon tonight, somebody has to represent the Village.

An overcast morning in St. Andrews, calm, temp in the low double digits, supposed to remain overcast and cool for the remainder of the day.
Conference to get underway this morning, have met a few of the other folks from around the Province first time since last year, always good.
Rob having a pretty good week, managed to get his Driving Permit has now received his Grad Ring making him a Grad of 2013.

Overcast, calm, temp a pleasant 14C, similar conditions for the remainder of the day. Looking into the week not bad temps or conditions for the next several days, remains to be seen if this is indeed the case.
Finally Rob has his permit in hand to drive, SIXTH attempt lucky. Drove Donna apparently already cool behind the wheel, nonchalant about the whole thing. He was advised not a good plan with his grandfather as his tutor, will see how things go.
Exams apparently NO PROBLEM, one week till Graduation Day, also no problem.
Off this afternoon for a conference in St. Andrews till weeks end, an annual event of Municipal Administrators, more interesting than it sounds.

The morning started with a bit of fog, then cleared, now the northerly has a hint of easterly bringing the clouds once again. Patchy fog in the, along with high teens for temp in the forecast. Temp a nice 12C, wind find east then going southerly by this afternoon.
Exam week in commence, a bit of tension in the air to get things underway. Emily has exams all week, Rop exempt for history, a couple of Practical Courses(no exam) with Math and English completes his commitment for this year.
The camp a great experiance, the group appreciated, entered the food hut after playing at the service, recieved an ovation and invited to go to the head of the chow line, with a chant we Love Grand Manan for them. Rob had a grin on when relating the story, he upgraded his $2 drumsticks to an investment of $12 for a new pair, helps out if you have better equipment.

A grand weather day yesterday, this morning the weather gods haven't decided what is taking place. Bright sun early, now overcast a bit of northerly breeze, temp 12C to rise near 20C, with fog, at least no rain - yet.
Yesterday lots of catch up around the place, Donna moved into MY shed, now the place looks like you should be living in it. It is the ultimate MAN CAVE, supposedly, a place for ATV, Riding Mower, etc. cleanliness not a prerequiste, things have changed. Must admit can locate things without turning over have the contents of the building.
Rob returns sometime today, no word on how things are going. Emily had a babysitting gig last evening, a bit of cash to add to her poke, no comments on lack of Quispam time, next weekend whatshisname camps here for the gradauation festivities.

The weekend starting far from summer like, showers just let up long enough for the fog to start rolling up the harbour. Showers amounted to quite a bit of rain overnight, not any improvement today. Forecast, isolated showers, a SW draft, temp might make it to the double digits.
Beach Party for the grads postponed due to weather, Emily overnighted at her best friends. Appears they settled for a movie marathon and each others' company, not unusual. No contact from Rob, also no uncommon, he knows where he is and that is all that matters it seems.
Lobster season begining to wind down with last day the 29th. Some say it will not come soon enough the catch remains poor, with the end of the season they will have the situation behind them till November.

A pleasant change in weather conditions this morning, bright sun, double digit temps to rise near 20C, a slight westerly draft, rain overnight. The weekend looking not too bad with sun in the forecast for both days.
Rob off for a weekend gathering of Baptists at Camp GREEN near Fredericton. His group part of the entertainment, returning on Sunday. He has assured us he has studied for his exam on Monday, plus another attempt at a drivers permit, a busy weekend for him. Emily is preparing for next week exams and the social aspects of the graduation, quite a bit going on.
Have been told the seine from the MOONRAKER had travelled towards Machais Seal Island in the 'Grey Zone', caught up in some American lobster gear. An attempt to retrieve it was underway yesterday. The MOONRAKER, thought to have remained in the area of the ledges. Salvage is being discussed, alot of money on the bottom, and a vessel that is only a few years old.

Sun attempting to make an attempt of being more than the cloud cover, about an even draw at the moment. Temp a cool 8C, a slight draft from the north attempting to find NW, remaining cool with possibility of showers by this afternoon.
Full tides well in swing, bar well out, notice a few adult geese near the shore, not evidence of young as yet. They usually remain on the Ross Island Shore till they get a bit larger.
Grass certainly coming on with all the moisture, however the plants taking a dirty one getting going in the cool, damp and windy conditions.

A slight change in the weather, finally, wind attempting to shift NW, a brief moment of sun, now hiding behind the clouds, Enough of a draft to move the flag, temp still in single digits, overcast and warmer temps till the weekend, then a change to the better in the offing.
Tides are full, bar out appears could almost walk to the Ross Island shore, a clammer or two taking advantage of the good weather, no rain, to get a bucket or so.
Grad prep order of the day, Emily has hair appointment this evening, the dry run to insure it is what fits the 'dress' and her desires, o my. Review for exams starting next week, a bit of tension till this is over with. Rob off to camp this weekend playing for a national camp being held in Fredericton, not the best plan, he assures us he is studying, will wait it out to see.

Cool/cold,damp,windy weather continues in fine style. Temp 7C,showers in progress, wind still from NNE20-25KPH, conditions to remain thus for the next day a bit of a respit then back to this stuff for a few days.
Harbour apprears quiet, the off boat tending traps, outside would be nasty, combined with the low catch numbers can`t imagine too many anxious to give it a try.
Grounds certainly green, lots of moisture to bring on the grass. Donna behind in her flower preparation, still a number of plants to make it in the ground.

Nasty weather conditions remain, overcast, showers, NE 35-40KPH, this is the order of the day till at least mid-week. The sun is avoiding visiting after this system has moved along, overcast skies mentioned at the moment.
Review for next week exams will take up this week, Emily still remains very excited after the Orientation effort at UNB. Rob on the otherhand just looking forward to having the school year behind him, hopefully with a good enough average to move onto his graduation year.
The MOONRAKER, my information tells me, struck the ledge known as THE BULL filled quickly, a bit of struggle claiming all hands, but done successfully. Don't know if she is on bottom or a bit of her still afloat.

A change in the weather, wind and rain for the next several days. Currently overcast, NE 20-25KPH, rain and higher winds in the forecasts by this afternoon. Similar conditions till at least midweek.
The only seiner left in the Grand Manan fleet met its demise yesterday returning to home port, I believe. Haven't got the details, however all hands accounted for, boat, just a few years old gone.
The university trip quite an experiance for both the old folks and Emily, all positive, other than the sticker shock involved in this excercise.

A grand change in the weather, CLEAR, a breeze from NE 10-15KPH, bright sun, temp 10C will rise into mid teens. Clear conditions for tomorrow, then rain for Sunday and into the new week.
Off to YoHo this afternoon, Emily to attend Orientation at UNB in tomorrow. Also to allow the old folks to have an idea of what her environment will be like. Seems to be a more than a little anticipation of the trip experience.
Rob and his bandmates appear to be having good weather for this evenings participation in RELAY FOR LIFE. The Relay is in its third or fourth year and becoming bigger each time.
