Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Sea of Cortez has been pretty much cloud free for the past 24 hours.
Off the west coast of the Baja peninsula a 1500-2000 foot layer of heavy fog hugs the coast from around Abreojos north to San Francisco bay area this morning.
This image is showing that fog bank extending inland and it looks like that area around Constitution is fogged in this morning. The fog extends northward inland staying mostly west of the mountains this morning. Mag Bay is also foggy. I though the fog could extend across the peninsula to the La Paz area this morning however checking the web cam in La Paz it just showed some isolated patches of clouds to the east. The web cam at Cab Falso also showed clear skies along the coast so it looks like that fog bank did not extend that far south.
Looking south to the Mexican Riviera where heavy convection along the ITCZ/monsoon trough is creating numerous bands of clouds that are drifting toward the mainland. Most of these bands of clouds dissipate before reaching shore but it looks like from time to time from around Cabo Corrienties south they will see scattered high whispys today.
Looking further south where high pressure over the western Gulf of Mexico is keeping a strong gradient over the Tehuantepec isthmus again this morning. 40 knot winds in the Gulf are forecast to last until tomorrow afternoon. The Gale warning will then be down tomorrow however the winds will continue for a couple of days in the 25-30 knot ranges.
That’s what is gong on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where I can see that that cold low has dropped out of the Gulf of Alaska and is now swirling around 1500 miles off the central California coast. It is due to make landfall on Wednesday bringing rain, heavy at times, to the entire west coast Wednesday and Thursday.
In the meantime high pressure along the coast is being pushed east cooling the state down from yesterday’s highs. By Wednesday the temperatures will have dropped as much as 10 degrees from yesterday.
A quick glance at the top of this image is showing that that the Great Northwest will have a couple more days of golf weather then rain into the weekend.
Southern California will remain cool along the coast due to coastal fog that has moved inland overnight. Inland temperatures will remain above normal until Wednesday when the cold front arrives. It will bring scattered showers and possible thunderbumpers through Thursday and exit the region on Thursday night.
Looking over to the southwest where high pressure will be keeping unseasonably warm afternoons though mid week. The Pacific cold front is due to arrive on Thursday providing some cooling with a chance for showers or thunderbumpers late Wednesday night into Thursday. The system should exit to the east on Thursday night and dry and warmer weather is expected Friday into the weekend.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like another spring day is in store for us today.
The northern Sea should have moderate southerlies today. The central Sea moderate NE and the southern Sea light to moderate northwesterlies today.
All the sunrise temperatures in the Sea of Cortez were either 74 or 75 degrees this morning. Yesterday’s highs in the Sea were in the mid 90s. Today should be about the same.
The Mexican Riviera should see the low 80s today.
In general this week looks pretty nice right now. Thursday when that cold front moves through the southwest we should see some elevated winds on that day but other than than spring is springing.
