Voice to Text--- .Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Sea of Cortez has been cloud free for the past 24 hours. Along the west coast of the Baja peninsula from the Laguna area just south of Turtle Bay it looks like a thick fog bank hugs the coast north to about La La Land. Looking south along the Mexican Riviera they too have been cloud free all the way to just south of Zihuatanejo. From there south there has been sporadic thunderbumpers popping up along the coast. The Gulf of Tehuantepec had some thunderbumper activity yesterday however this morning the Gulf is pretty much free of any cloudiness. The forecast for the Gulf over the 3-day forecast period is for very moderate SW winds. Looking now out into the monsoon trough where it is very active this morning. Lots of very tall thunderbumpers. That embedded low that is slowly moving west around 107W this morning has expanded its sphere of influence over the past 24 hours to an area about the size of Texas. Conditions however are not favorable for much intensification over the next couple of days as it moves west. The models are now favoring development of multiple low pressure systems forming further east near Central America over the next 3-5 day period. So we’ll be keeping an eye on that. That’s about it for our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where a weather maker cold front that moved ashore in Washington State yesterday. It is now dropping rain over the Rockies and the southern tail is swinging through the Great Basin. Not a lot of moisture in the tail end of this system but it will give cause to very gusterly conditions in the basin today. Northern California will continue to be cool and gusterly due to a weak closed low near the California/Oregon border. SFO had 50 mph winds yesterday. Tomorrow should start to see a warming trend extending well into next week. The winds will also dissipate as high pressure fills in. June Gloom will continue in Southern California with the marine layer extending into the inland valleys during the night and mornings. It will be windy in the mountains and deserts today then the winds will decrease tonight and tomorrow a warming trend will extend into the middle of next week. Looking now over to the southwest where strong and gusterly winds will develop today as the tail end of the cold front passes through Arizona. Otherwise it will be hot and getting hotter with the deserts seeing temperatures around 110 by the middle of next week. Red Flag fire warnings have been posted for SW Arizona today. Still there are no indications that the annual monsoon season will be starting soon. That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence the Sea will be seeing moderate southerlies over the 3-day forecast period. Today in the northern Sea the strongest winds will be along the northern Sonoran coast. Guaymas south to Mazatlan should see moderate SW winds in the 16-18 knot ranges. On the Baja side today the points, Chivato and Concepcion, will see 15-19 gusts this afternoon and moderate southerlies for the rest of the central Sea. The southern Sea starting with Puerto Escondido south to the East Cape moderate SE winds today. Today’s temperatures about the same as yesterday in the high 80s to the mid 90s.
