Voice to Text--- .Looking down into the Sea this morning with first the 24 hour loop I can see that yesterday most of the Sea was blanketed with clouds drifting over from the mainland. The cloudiness kept the temperatures down a few degrees however the humidity was up so the heat index made it feel a lot hotter. Last nigh along with the clouds numerous cells moved out into the Sea bringing some elevated winds along. Here in the cove we have had 18-23 for a couple of hours starting around 2am. AT 6am I was seeing lightning over the peninsula and I have been hearing thunder somewhere close by all morning. The winds since around 4am have been in the 12-16 knot ranges from the SE. Around 7 O’clock we started to have light rain in the cove. Looking over to Sonora where they had several late afternoon thunderbumpers build and move north pretty much stopping at the Fence. There is still a lot of residual cloudiness in northern Sonora and the northern Sea this morning. The rest of the Sea is still seeing numerous areas of heavy wet clouds this morning. It appears to be clearing in places but there are still lots of wet clouds over the mainland that most likely will be moving west, crossing the Sea and moving out into the Pacific. It looks like we will be having a marginal solar day a best today. I’d also expect to see more thunderbumper activity along the coastal mountains in Baja today. Looking now south to the Mexican Riviera I can see that numerous small cells developed along the coast and dissipated over the past 6 hours. In general though the coast is pretty much clear with mostly a few residual clouds around. There was one large cell that stayed over the Puerto Vallarta area most of the afternoon and they reported a bit over 3 inches of rain in down town Puerto Vallarta yesterday afternoon. We have two Tropical Wave in our hood again this morning. Both are trucking along 9N. One is well out and headed for Hawaii this morning. The other is a ways behind it and is within the ITCZ/Monsoon trough along with a low so there is a chance that this could develop into something tropical. It is currently about 550 miles SSW of Acapulco this morning. There is another Tropical Wave headed our way in the Gulf of Mexico. It is currently moving along the North coast of the Yucatan and should be in the Pacific by tomorrow. So we still don’t have anyting cooking in our Tropical Kitchen This morning. That’s what is going on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where under high pressure the west will be heating up well into next week with above normal temperatures. Seattle will be around 90 this afternoon. The Sacramento valley will be in the low 100s. Southern California will be seeing daytime highs in the mid 80s. It will hot and dry into next week. Looking now over to the southwest where high pressure that has moved up from Texas has blanketed the southwest resulting in well above normal temperatures for today. Tucson 104 and Yuma around 114. In general it is fairly dry however there is still a possibility of afternoon and evening showers and possible a thunderbumper. It looks like most of the thunderbumper activity will be on the south side of the international border. That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like the day is starting of with numerous thunderbumpers all up and down the peninsula this morning. As far as winds: They will continue to be in the moderate ranges over the 3-day forecast period. The northern Sea: ESE today and then ENE Monday and Tuesday. The Sonoran coast mostly SW for the next 3 days The central Sea, Baja side: Mostly east or NE for the next 3 days. The La Paz area: SSE today then West tomorrow and back to the light southerlies on Tuesday. Taking a quick last look at the IR images for the Sea of Cortez It looks like there was some brief clearning in the southern Sea earlier this morning it now looks like it will be clouding up over the entire Sea again. Temperatures will be down a few degrees today and be in the mid to high 90s though.
