December 2009 climate statistics.
Below normal temperatures and near normal precipitation characterized Kansas City weather in December. Below normal temperatures and near normal precipitation characterized Saint Joseph weather in December. The average temperature at the Kansas City International Airport was 28.5 degrees which was 2.8 degrees below normal. The average high temperature was 36.8 degrees or 3.2 degrees below normal. The average low temperature was 20.3 degrees which was 2.2 degrees below normal. The highest temperature for the month was 59 degrees on the 1st. The lowest temperature was 0 degrees on the 10th. Precipitation came in at 1.69 inches for the month or 0.05 inches above normal. The greatest total in a 24 hour period was 0.55 inches on the 24th through the 25th. Snowfall for the month was 15.1 inches or 10.8 inches above normal. This was the third snowiest December on record. At Saint Joseph the average temperature was 24.8 degrees which was 5.7 degrees below normal. The average high was 33.5 degrees which was 6.6 degrees below normal. The average low temperature was 16.1 degrees which was 4.7 degrees below normal. The highest temperature was 59 degrees on the 1st. The lowest temperature was 7 below zero on the 11th. Precipitation at Saint Joseph was 1.60 inches or 0.16 inches above normal. The greatest total in a 24 hour period was 0.52 inches on the 23rd through 24th. Snowfall for the month was 20.0 inches.
