Now that is a story worth telling.(just watched the clip) We have a couple of ancient LCs up here for transport to smaller islands and we rode the ferries across Magellan St.- East entrance and then back to Pervenis from Punta Arenas - both boats were large LCs. Kinda rough ride in chop. Our little Rentacar was down in the belly of this boat and when we got to Pervenis the outside was covered in salt bumps at least 1/8th inch high. Not just America, Pat! 'Course I know you know that "America" goes from Tiera Del Fuego to Baffin Island.(or possibly further North and South) I argued with my military escort in Liberia when he told me I was an American. "I'm Canadian" I said before I thought about it. At some point I had escorted a fuel tanker into the "Zone" and some guys come to me with a list of demands - restart the generators (they were new before the war but totally scavenged) and provide power to the local area. Just happened that some Canuck soldiers in Beledwain, Somalia had screwed up and beaten a kid to death. The locals knew this but I did not at that time. So I'm all: "Look at the Logo: We are here to help" (and we did, I think) And No! I can not make the generators run nor the wrecked power lines. The boat: My uncle built it from plans in "Popular Boating" published in the early '50s. The original was named:"Vixen". Looks a lot like a ChrisCraft. I've lost the copy of the boat plan and could not find any reference to Popular Boats but your recent video of the history of the Landing Craft and mention of the "P.T." jogged my memory. Good Morning Pat! After waiting for about an hour for WU to fix its glitches earlier this a.m., I've finally been able to reconnect and post again. YEAH! Hope you and yours have a decent Flag Day in N.O. and are able to continue bearing up under the heatwave many of the southern states have recently experienced. We've been stuck in the fifties all week which isn't and an oldie or a goodie. LOL! Guess there's no happy medium, temp-wise, this year! To date, I'm still scrutinizing every scene of TREME for a sign of you and the Mrs. Were you both in the one filmed at Tipitinas or has it still not aired yet? I'll continue to keep a close watch. Hi Pat ~ Hope you had a great Fathers Day yesterday! I watched TREME last night (Sunday) and still couldn't spot you and the Mrs. in any scenes. Did I happen to miss it? They go by so fast and the cameras focus mainly on the actors. So sad, too, that they got rid of musician, Steve Earle, in the last gruesome scene. I've always enjoyed his musical talent and he did a good job acting on the show. Hope he has other gigs or contractual obligations lined up elsewhere.
