Another Rainy Morning

I don't have much time this morning, so will zip along. It is gloomy outside, drizzly rain, low ceiling, taking up where June left off. Still really waiting for summer here. It has warmed up but it still rains often, threatens rain, or looks like rain is never too far away. The humidity has been high lately, with so many clouds.

Two months to go from today for the wedding. And life has taken a few turns. The past two weeks have found me mostly tending to my sweet mother, who has been ill with aspiration pneumonia, spent a week in the hospital, and now is in a nursing facility for recovery and rehab. I am her manager for it all. Could be a long road with this for her. This is re-visiting past history (although the situation back then was decidedly worse, but this one is not easy either) and so several more plates are now spinning in the air. Whoo-hoo!

Rainy Wet Day!

By late morning today the rain set in. It has been dark and dreary all day, and quite wet to boot. Our high was only 59 and so far we have .72" of rain, with more coming into the overnight.

The sun is shining this morning, heralding the beginning of summer! So nice to see and so appropriate. It hasn't always been so, lately.

The last few or several days have been pretty dreary overall. Lots of clouds, cooler than normal, either threatening rain or actually dropping the 2.41" of rain we have had so far in June. Pretty much no resemblance to "summer" has been found. So, it is quite fitting that we start the season actually looking like summer. But it will only last a couple of days. Summer isn't here to stay. By Friday we will revert to our former selves - 60's, clouds, and rain.

Nice accomplishments have been reached in our household over the weeks of June, completing last night. To add to our college grad earlier this month, yesterday my husband and I reached our 30th wedding anniversary on the same day as our youngest child gradutated from high school!! It was a very nice event and we were very happy for her and all the fine achievements she has accrued over all of her years in school. It was a very busy few days with numerous activities and plans, but now we are finished with our 18 years of public school, and three years of private preschool before that. It was a nice run. All four kids did quite well and our experiences have been good, but it is time now for all of us to move further on and into new directions. The next stop for my daughter is the University of Washington in the fall, while the other three kids look for post-college opportunities, continue with college, or also get married and still continue with college. University is where my main focus has been for some time, and now it will be my complete focus once fall rolls around.

But, for now, we will move into summer and hopefully it will truly arrive soon, and the wedding bells are getting a bit louder in the distance, calling us to greater action. Now to get the wedding daughter a bit freer with her time! Working two jobs that are all over the clock makes us get creative with when she can be available and move forward!

Onward and Upward, huh? Ain't life wonderful and so exciting for you this summer! Hope your recent spate of nice weather continues, you certainly deserve it! And the great thing about the daughter going to UW is she'll be close by for yet another four years; I don't want mine to leave yet so I'm hoping for the same result: that they will go to school here in state. We have had a glorious three days with highs in the upper 60's, sunshine and breezes to keep those pesky mosquitos at bay; back to rain this morning but that's ok as it settles everything and reminds us just how great the sunny days are!! Hi Polar! The last couple of days have been weather you can relate to rather well, probably. In just the last two days, 1.27" of rain and highs in the upper 50's to 60's. Quite gloomy to go along with it all. And this morning has fog lifting into overcast, but dry so far with no guarantees it will stay that way all day. Yes, very busy days for me this month and the rest of the summer. To add to it, now I have my mom in the hospital, and I am her manager. Lots going on all the time. It has been nice having all the kids close by for college (all four have or will go to UW) and two have just commuted from home; although one especially was typically barely ever here except to sleep. We have had good experiences at UW and although it is big, the kids find their places to prosper. I hope the soccer scholarships come through for your son! And to be able to stay in Alaska! Hey! Congrats on 30 and getting the youngest through High School, of course that just brings new beginnings. Even though you are not sharing your wet weather ;) maybe we can get a big enough ridge built up to send more summer your way! Plenty of sun here, though a couple degrees warmer in the evening would be OK for dinners on the back patio (yikes, gotta watch what I wish for, I'll be sorry I said that in a month). Congrats on your anniversary, and I sure hope your mom will be okay!! Your already busy summer is getting busier by the moment. The wedding will be here before you know it, time IS flying by!! Looks like your weather is still a bit dreary, but as a kid it seemed to me the weather was mostly sunny in July and August and even a bit of September when I started back to school. So sorry to hear about your mother. This kind of malady is never easy to get over, it seems. At least she has you, many of our elderly have noone, so here's to better days! Talked to one of my brothers in Troutdale, OR, and he said they have had just over 5" for June, and as usual, he is complaining,LOL. But at least there is minimal fire danger for the NW. We, on the other hand, have had a very nice string of sunny weather, hi's 62, nice breeze, I hate to brag, but just delightful. I don't envy my relatives in CO and Kansas, but here in coastal AK, we just never have that kind of weather. With your busy life, hope the week ahead is a good one. Take care. Hi Cal! Thanks for the anniversary wishes, and from WTS and Briar as well! It was kind of lost under the avalanche of everything else in the past month. You are right, summer does not come here till July usually, and usually soon after the 4th. The joke is that summer begins on July 5, often after a soaking 4th. This year may be similar. Hopefully no rain on the 4th but pretty so-so weather expected. Improvement does appear to be coming by the weekend. Hope so. Good for you Polar, in getting some nice days! You all deserve that, times ten, after the winter you had! This morning is overcast and rain is coming in again in a matter of hours. But improvement slowly will happen by later this week/weekend. The week ahead looks very busy - out of town company coming in, wedding details are pressing, and my mom needs a lot of watching-over as well. She is in a slow recovery process. Thanks for stopping by and welcoming me home! I am sorry to hear about your Mother. You definitely have a lot of plates spinning in the air! (I like that expression!) Your Mom is lucky to have you. Congratulations on 30 years of marriage. It is quite an accomplishment. We are on 31 and I often look back and think about all of the good times and how thankful I am to still be sharing life with the same person. I'll let you in on a secret...marriage gets better after the kids move out! I had heard that - but it is true! We had a wonderful trip - the sights were amazing. It was just a great place to visit. But, it's good to be home and getting ready to enjoy the 4th of July with our son and my brother and his family. Steve has to work, so he is staying in Chicago until Thursday when he will head home for a 3 day weekend. WooHoo! Wish we had some of your rain. You were juggling enough happy plates already. Now you've got a worrisome plate to keep in the air as well. You don't need this now.
