No data for a couple of weeks while I was traveling. LADWP had a power hiccup and although I was able to restart the WX computer remotely, The Weatherlink software lost the StationID and password during the shutdown. Looks like I need a VPN setup also. Just one more contingency I must deal with. LOL. At least I'm learning a lot about remote computing.

Well I thought I covered all the bases. Silly me.While I was in a remote location, the WX station went down again. No problem so I thought.I tried to access the Digital power switch and reset the computer.WRONG!!!The ISP changed my IP address during my absence and when I tried to "ping" the WAN, I received no reply.GAME OVER. $30/mo for a static address just isn't in my budgert

If it detects a change in system current, it will send me an...

I've started to have problems with an old computer. The Davis WX station is still uploading the packets but something in the computer processing creates a "low virtual memory" error and eventually the computer freezes up after several weeks and requires a reboot. I think the continual Microsoft "security" updates has finally resulted in an undesirable effect on the Wunderground patch for the ancient Davis weather station software.Time to add some remote computer adm...

The last few days we have had some very high winds and this has caused some strange behavior with the WX station. After an unusually windy day, I noticed the I collected 4.8 inches of rain!!!!.I recently moved the Davis sensor suite (ISS) to a more convenient location because birds were using the rain collection bucket as their personal latrine. The new location was located too close to a mounting structure and the winds actually drafted down the bucket causing the ...
