	A New Beginning

I call my computer here at work the Glitchamatic for good reason; some blogs here I can't access, like Grothar's, Skyepony's, and Finn's, and modern websites like NUWU shows up weird on here, so I don't even go there much(Although webcam videos can be played on there, something I can't do on Classic.). Anyway, a very positive glitch, one found in Bogon's "generations" blog, has enabled me to at least partially go to most websites(although Flickr, Photobucket, and utube are still off limits), increasing my access to webcams many times over!

This is not an easy process, however. Google and Bing lock up IE6, the browser that's installed on this computer. A search using Wikipedia brought me to good old Webcrawler.

A brief explanation on how I have to get to a new cam "in glitch mode":

Start IE6, stopping the NWS page for Lewisport before it loads, as it locks up IE6.
Go to favorites, and go to Bogon's "generations" blog.
Repeat this to open up another browser. IE6 does not have Tabs.
Go to Webcrawler, or a webcam repository, such as webcamgalore.com.
After finding the link I want, I right-click on the link and select "copy shortcut". I do NOT left-click on the link, as it will lock up IE6.
On the second browser, I right-click on the URL in the address bar, highlighting it. From the menu, I paste the link's URL in the address bar, and hit enter on the keyboard to get me to the link. Most of the time I can access the link , unless it locks up IE6. This happens once in awhile.

Oh, and it "times out" if I don't use it for 20 minutes, or after an hour, no matter what, so I have to set everything up again!

Additional challenges come in websites that don't have an English version. I can't install language packs in this computer, so Chinese webcam sites, for evample, are just a series of squares where the letters should be. In order to be a cam on this blog, I have to know where the cam is, and what they are looking at, so people can at least look it up for themselves, and know where the cam is! "Somewhere in China" doesn't cut it for me!(Although I may post one in the comment section!) :)

It's not my intention to make this a "travelogue with webcams" kind of blog, and post a lot of information with the cams about where and what and who. For the most part, I'll let the cams do the talking, and post links(as always) for you to look it up yourself, if you want to!

I hope you like them; as always, it's a work in progress! :)

Good morning Ylee, Pros, GG and the rest of the gang. No grass cutting this morning, it's 80F here already. I would have had to go out at 4:30 this morning to get any cool air to work in. Don't think the neighbours would have appreciated that besides it was just a bit too dark...LOL

Oh well if I don't get it done before the lad comes again to cut the back, I will get him to do it with the rider mower. Sure will be glad when cooler weather starts coming out of our North. Its sure been a long hot summer so far and its only half over....

we got our grass mowed this morning, trimmed the rosemary hedge, repotted some stuff that was growing out their pots, did a couple loads of clothes, checked on a shut-in neighbor, had lunch, nap and now here we are.
Looks like its another scorcher out your way. Trouble with that is it all comes East. Hopefully it will stay North East. It seems most of the stuff hits I95 and shoots on up the coast. However we do have a 98 in our forecast.

There is a change of fare at the squirrel feeding area. There is a pile of fruit and or veggies. Even wildlife needs a varied menu!

Hi Ylee and gang. Looks like the lady in the feeder cam is spoiling the deer. She put out a big pile of apples and other goodies for them...what a nice treat.

I see its a blistering l0lF there at the moment. Good lord, what temps to have to work in. We are sitting in the mid 80s at the moment, going up into the mid 90s tomorrow with a high humidex reading making it feel between 107 and 111F, then a nice cool down for Friday. Gotta get that grass cut then...

Have a safe and quiet night shift. Stay cool if you can.

Good evening! I just spent an hour straight on the shop floor, and let me tell you, that was all I could handle! I am literally soaked from head to toe! This time, a drank a cup of sports drink before drinking my ice water, to restore whatever minerals I sweated out! Hopefully, the rest of the night won't be so busy!

I finally got fed up with the pasty cam, and replaced it with the Vancouver ferry cam until I get the new blog up! It looks like next week until I'll be done with it, as although I'll be working OT, I won't be around the Glitchamatic to work on the new blog!

Owensboro's high was 102.9, and at 5PM, still had a temp of 100.9, coupled with a dewpoint of 79 gave a heat index of 121! That's the internal temperature of a rare steak, if anyone's interested!

Pros, Alley, Janet, it's crazy when such a large area is this hot! We are supposed to get some relief by tomorrow, with a good chance of storms!

I would imagine the deer and other critters needs a little extra moisture in their diet! Very thoughtful of them, although Alley may be right about it being bribery, lol!

ycd, I have "needy" neighbors(and inlaws, ect.) too, but the Lord has blessed me with abundance, so what else can I do but help? I, too, may need help someday!

Put food out for the babies and along came Aleister as the first to partake this morning, Ms Smudgie is still to arrive. I think she is waiting for the rain to stop before she makes the trek from the garage...LOL

Yes its raining, should cool it just a bit before the real heat sets in today. Tomorrow should have a high of only 81F whereas todays is back in the high 90s. Oh what fun.

Hope it has cooled some for you Ylee at work. That is just awful to try to work in those conditions. Up here, they would have tried to do something to cool it down.

Anyway have a great end to your shift then you can go home and cool off. Have a nice cool shower, crawl into that bed and get some much needed rest.

I am going to grab a coffee, take my BP pills then maybe I will try to go back to bed, even if its only to read a bit. I did my housework at 11PM so there is not much to do around here today...LOL Got a couple of chickens to roast with some veggies...yum yum.

Oh Ylee, what a blessing this rain is. Has not stopped since I got up at 4 AM, just a nice slow rain with occasional bursts but otherwise just what we needed. So nice to see puddles in my driveway. If this can keep up for most of the day, it sure will help the farmers. Our lawns will start to green too instead of looking like crispy shredded wheat.

Nary a drop of rain here, so far; it's been all around us, though, sort of like a candidate for one of Bug's "how come" moments! :)

Sooo no computer time this time, you are missing the Austria view I believe it might be a first. ALL the umbrellas are up and its sunny there! Someone is sitting on the wrong side of the rail again too.

Well we saw a little rain this afternoon, not a whole lot but who knows what will pop up as the night wears on. Just about time to head to the bedroom to see what is on the tele...not into the Olympic opening ceremonies. Just too long and I am not a fan of the music. LOL

Pretty quiet on the cams. One fat raccoon is munching down in the feeder cam at this time. LOL There is more happening on my front porch than on the cam...Kittens are having a play time teasing momma. LOL

Good evening! Looks like some bonus Tstorms skirted just to rhe north and east, again! :( It's not nearly as hot as last night though, thank goodness!

It'll be another 16 hours for me, as folks are already calling off for the next scheduled shift, and I have to cover! I wonder how people get by without working?

No work on the new blog tonight, perhaps tomorrow night, if it's slow! The pups like to hang out with each other; in the evening hours up there, they like to sleep together on top of the doghouse, a la Snoopy! :)

Alley, I think a cam of the kittens would be pretty neat! I get bored with all the pomp and circunstance that ceremonies like the Olympics have; just show me the lighting of the torch, and let's get on with it! :)

Hi, it is four am and it seems that there is a pig-like creature at the feeding site. The shape is like a pig, the size is about that of a raccoon. Of course, I could also be seeing 'things' just because I have not slept one iota tonight!

Glad that I made you laugh. I swear that there are more stupid, idiotic studies out there than serious and needed ones. Is it me talking or is it the lack of sleep? Let's conduct a study!

Ylee, I would not mind having a cam on the porch to watch all the activity that goes on between the visits from the kitties and the other critters that come to raid the feeding dish. I am sure old possum was back late last night as the kibble dish was completely empty again. I would need a battery operated one as there is no way I could get a cable to run from my computer to my livingroom window then the next thing would be where I would attach it...they make cordless keyboards and mice, why not webcams??? That would work for me.

When I got up at 4 to feed the kitties, it was pouring rain. Lasted until about 6 PM. Too wet to go out and cut the grass but tomorrow morning looks to be good if we can keep the rain at bay tonite. Once cut, I don't care if it rains all week. What a blessing that would be.

The lady who asked for help was right: she needed someone to tell her that most of the things she thought she needed (like swapping out the washer and dryer) were not necessary.

Jeeze I feel like the local town crier. LOL Two fat coons enjoying the corn, me thinks there was someone other than kitties up on the porch during the night to clean out the dish but maybe it was just more nightly visitors of the feline variety from around. Just fed Smudgie. I see someone else came to visit while she was here. Hope she got to enjoy her meal first. She is really skinny looking from feeding that brood of hers. Gotta get out today to buy more food for them.

good morning, had to stop by to get my world view fix.
I see the big boat w/ the red bumpers is back in port at Malta and finally caught the bus this morning at the bus stop.
We had a nice rain storm last evenng. Lots of thunder & lightning to go with it. We enjoyed the light show but poor little Molly did not like all the noise.

Ylee - thanks! Yes, we kayaked in the back bay, which is actually connected to the ocean - eventually. It was salt water, and relatively calm, except for the wind that we almost consistently have. I call it nature's air conditioner, but it did make our return trip a bit tougher than going out! We were heading into the wind on our way back. Always seems to work out that way!

I love the way Canyonlands looks right now, with most of the terrain in cloud-shadow and one promontory shining brightly in sun. During the summer monsoon season, that's not uncommon in parts of Utah and Arizona. At various times in the past, when I was driving seemingly endless distances in those places, the play of clouds and sun would turn a nice drive into something really spectacular. And that's what Canyonlands reminds me of now.

Good morning Ylee. The view of Canyonlands is really scary right now. There is a cover of ominous clouds hovering over the land and promontories. I guess it has changed since BC looked at it, I do not see a sunny patch at this moment.

Good morning! Two hours on the floor to start the day, and I'm soaked! Now that I'm in the A/C with a large cup of cold ice water, things are improving! Flirting with 100 again today, and for the next several days; I think Mother Nature's record is stuck, maybe she should get an ipod, lol!

Shining Rock cam looks particularly refreshing this morning, with cool temps, rain, fog, and lots of green! I'll be continuing work on the new blog today! Maybe I'll be able to post it today!

Briar, that's a drive that I want to do someday! Not only do I want to drive through there, I want to be able to stop and stay as long as I like! :)

Hi Ylee! No critters on the African cam lately. Still pretty though! I was on the Denali sled dog blog the other day, it is pretty neat life those pups live.

Your temps are really stuck! Any relief in sight??

The canyonlands cam has the best resolution of any cam I have seen on your blog. It looks like an AC every time I look at it.

I think the Canyonlands cam benefits from low humidity as well as good optics! I wish everyone(Including me, lol!) had a Netcam XL!
