Happy Halloween! At the end is my scariest bug and one of my favorites.

Not much is going on these days.

The tomatoes planted in August are starting to produce. The summer squash plants are thriving as well as the luffa. The luffa plant did not like the extremely hot weather this summer and did not bloom. Once the temps broke and we had rain, the luffa plant has gone into overdrive. Now if a freeze will hold off till December. It will probably happen sooner, but I can hope.

The lemon tree has started to bloom again.

Now, I have to decide whether or not to put the greenhouse back up.

We have had decent rain this fall but need so much more. My remote rain gauge keeps breaking down for one reason or another, so I don't have an accurate rainfall count. Time to go get an old style rain gauge.

Sig! Look at you! What a blessing. I knew there was some roaming around up there, and the coverage seemed to be pretty good. Here's a post showing projected totals. It looks like you're going to do better than we will, but so what? Any place in the state that gets rain now is all to the good - if you get it, we'll be happy, and then you can be happy for us if it ever shows up down here! Hi shore, it was wonderful! We had 1.49 inches on the gauge this morning. I got soaked running the kids home last night but did not mind at all. With the rain and the 65 degrees this morning we should be making this a holiday! And yes, I will be happy for you to get some rain and cooler temps! Awesome lighting shot! Those are really hard to get. Perhaps we will get some more rain soon. Seems like a late frost date would be in line with the summer, then again if God really hates the red states, we will get an early frost and destroy any chances of late season crops and trees recovering before going dormant (or dying). Sig ~ I've been looking for a minute to tell you a funny story. I was talking with the fellow who digs graves at the Iowa cemetery where Mom was buried today, and discovered he had lived in Ardmore for fifteen years. I don't know much more than that - not even his name - but I thought about you and just laughed. Not often you run into someone who "knows Ardmore"! I'm heading up to Minnesota tomorrow - not far north, but far enough that the lows are going to be in the 40s. I was smart enough to bring long pants and a sweater - I think I'm going to need them! Hi aSigiam, I see the drought monitor in your blog shows this week's update. Can see some improvement compared with this one from Sept. 20, 2011... Improvement happening N of Red River also. Oklahoma's exceptional drought has decreased from 70% of the land in mid-August to about 43% this week. With a little luck, we'll get some more rain early next week. Have a good night!
