As of 2 pm ET Thursday, TS Don was at 26.4 N, 90.7 W, moving NW at 15 mph, and winds at 45 mph. In the forecast by the NHC, Don is expected to make landfall just north of Corpus Christi as a moderate Tropical Storm. I don't really see Don strengthening all that much, he'll maybe make it to 50 mph. Like the NHC, I expect Don to make landfall around Corpus Christi around Fri. Night/Sat. Morning.
I'm watching 91L at 40W. 91L's only problem is not shear, which is low, but the SAL to its northwest. Models are developing this storm into Emily, and taking it towards the Lesser Antilles, PR, and in the general direction of the Bahamas. I'll continue to watch 91L closely, as it's around that time of year where Cape Verde storms start to fire up.
There's another tropical wave at 17W emerging off of the African coast. The NHC/TAFB wave forecast for Monday shows what looks like another system to the ENE of what's currently 91L. If this wave does develop, it would become Franklin.
