Humm Joe I am on that bankrupt airline flying to Anchorage in May via Dallas. Hope they make it ok. Alaska Airlines has really changed their schedule out of Orlando. Makes me sad. Love that airline. Please try to get rid of the snow by May. Going back to Homer to fish for halibut.

Sorry the snow, rain and ice have been cruel to you. Son is leaving Lville and moving back to Tampa next week. Long story but it will nice to have him around for a change. He is happy to be coming back to the sunshine state but as your mom knows this was not a bad Kentucky winter.

as for skiing, take it from someone who's done both alpine (downhill) and cross country (flat). Managed to get some pretty good injuries in both directions. A 30 foot freefall on a black ski slope, and a nice near hug of a big concrete high powerline base (missed it but twisted just about everything from toes to above knee).

Skiing isn't what you'd want to do off Ballyhooooooooo... not a wise choice. But it sounds like fun on the flat. Putting in your own tracks in cross country skiing is a LOT of work too, btw.

Will it EVER stop snowing in Dutch Harbor? I am looking at a five-day forecast and 50 - 70% snow every day.

we are looking forward to 80 and 84F temps for the next week or so. About 60 degrees warmer than March should be. Weather is totally weird for here.
My furnace is off and the windows are open. I have tulips and daffodils up almost 5 inches and you can see the buds on the daffodils already. The poor dog is shedding like crazy and wondering whatever happened to spring.
We seem to have gone from fall to summer with almost no winter or spring at all. Joe got more snow in his last storm than we had all winter here.
At least one farmer was out in the field trying to do some early work. He was firmly stuck in a low wet spot as of this afternoon. He may have to wait a few more days. The dirt around here is like tar, really thick and black and sticky when it is even a little bit wet.
Besides, they won't be able to get frost insurance on their corn or beans if they plant before the 15th of April. That makes sense, since the average last frost date is sometime toward the third week of May.

Skiing sounds like an interesting adventure except for the twisty roads, the seep hills and mountain sides that drop straight off into the cold sea and the shortage of emergency rooms and skilled orthopedic surgeons in Dutch.

I'd say you were lucky to have steering.
When our hill to home gets testy most 2x4s park at the bottom or wherever they can get to. If I lose it on the hill I slide back and so far have been able to clear the parked cars. Have not had to steer like that since I got 4x4.

Loyola (here in Baltimore) went down to Ohio State in their NCAA debut. Not a surprise there, but I like underdogs and they are my Mom's alma mater, so I was rooting for them.

3 of the four KY teams made it through the second round last night; WKU put up a good fight against Kentucky, but were clearly overmatched! Hopefully tomorrow will take them all into the sweet sixteen!

Ylee I hope you are so right!!! What a day of upsets! My heart aches for these young men as they lose. I don't know if it is better to lose by 2 or 20!
