In typical Las Vegas fashion, we really aren't getting a spring. May was unseasonably hot according to the weather people on television and then the temperatures drop from around 100 into the 70s for the Memorial Day weekend!
Now that it is getting warmer and going to stay that way, I've been weatherproofing my house in Las Vegas to try to keep my power bills down. I also drained my pool and replaced the water before it got too hot outside. For some reason, everyone around me is getting their trees trimmed as well which doesn't make sense to me. Why lose all of that shade and possibly hurt your tree? Why not trim them in the winter when the tree is dormant?
Soon enough the average temperature will be 105 or higher and they will be wishing for more shade on their house. Tourism has been steadily increasing and it look like things are going back to normal in that regard. For anyone thinking of coming to visit, now is a great time weather wise. Not to hot outside but warm enough to enjoy a dip in the pool.

I moved to southern Nevada in the early 1980s and learned to endure the summers and love the winters. Las Vegas is a multi-faceted city at best. |
