Eight years ago today - on Friday the 13th - Hurricane Charley made landfall in Punta Gorda, FL. All forecasts had it hitting Tampa and so the SW coast of FL was taken a bit by surprise. It was a Cat 3 and exited the state at Daytona Beach. I lived about 20 miles south of there and we lost power for seven days.
I always remember this day in 2004 and I think of it as the beginning of two very active tropical seasons.

Not as active on here as in the past but I do pop in every now & then and check on my friends - oh and of course the weather forecast. Still love viewing the pix and try to comment whenever I'm able.Quick roadtrip to the east coast tomorrow. Not sure if I'll have time to get any shooting in and forecast calls for rain so only TWT.Been kinda disappointed in our sunsets so far this winter. Day 1Flew into Sea-Tac airport (quite the eventful flight) and went to lunch, salmon chowder YUM! then to Pike Market. I spotted Josh from TV Reality Show, “Deadliest Catch” at the Market and he was so nice and let me get a photo with him.Day 2Drove south from Tacoma and met up with Leia (known her for years thru this site but had never met in person). Last year I didn’t get to do a fall trip, so we took a long weekend and drove up to the North Georgia Mtns. to see some leaf color. It was really nice and I recommend the area to anyone living in FL or thereabouts that would like a fall view without having to go too far. The weather was perfect - cool but sunny and NO humidity!
