	Nice blizzard!

Just watching the radar as this blizzard smacks Long Island and it's unusual to see this storm flow the wrong way across the Island, from East to West. Still haven't won Lotto, so still am nursing the Lacross WX station, and true to form, the aneometer froze at about 7 am this morning. It uses an enclosed impeller and it is very vulnerable to sleet, as well as leaf debris here. I liked it at first as it was more stealthier than a traditional aneometer, and stealth is critical to a Amateur Radio operator with a wife who's very critical!

Checking into the local Skywarn net here in Nassau County, which is outstanding and run by some highly skilled volunteers, and have been listening to the snow totals creep up every several hours as they take measurements throughout the area and then compile a report to NWS.

So far we're going from sleet to light wind blown snow, about 5.4 inches so far, and wind is really picking up.

Nice to see your blog back again--I had forgotten I had entered some comments here about a year and half ago during Hurricane Hanna--have been looking for blogs in the L.I. area this winter with all the snows you have been getting this year--hope the next one doesn't get you too bad--your wx station doesn't seem to do well with winter weather as you have mentioned--have been thinking of getting one here but it wouldn't get much use over 6 months of the year--other than one week of rain in January, our winter hasn't been too bad here; rainfall for the season is near or just slightly below normal; have had only 4 days with over an inch of precip and one of those was in early December before the official start of winter- we did have the lowest pressure ever recorded here during those Jan. storms but it was nothing compared to what L.I. gets during a strong nor'easter. Hope to see more of your posts after any large storms on L.I.--I enjoy hearing how folks back home are making it through the winter. Take care!!!
