Through mid-afternoon...scattered to numerous showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue to move across the South Plains and rolling plains. At 1 PM...the greatest concentration of showers were located along and south of a Morton to Lubbock to Dickens to Guthrie line...moving westward around 10 mph. These shower will bring localized downpours. Hourly rainfall totals of a tenth to half inch will be common...with isolated one inch to two inch amounts. Motorists should be alert for ponding of water on the roadways and low visibilities when encountering the stronger showers. The rain may also aggravate any flooding from earlier rains.

The Flood Watch is now in effect for
* a portion of northwest Texas... including the following areas... Garza... Lynn... Terry and Yoakum.
* Through this evening
* a very moist airmass is expected to remain in place across the region today. A weak upper level disturbance also remains in the region and is expected to bring a continued chance of rain with the best chances of flood producing rain over the southern South Plains and points farther south in the Permian Basin and southeast New Mexico.
* Areal flooding will be possible in poor drainage areas... including low lying roadways... near Playa Lakes..and along creeks and draws. Pockets of flash flooding will be possible with the most intense rain in areas prone to rapid runoff such as the edge of The Caprock Escarpment.
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
