Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 4:54 AM CDT on May 29, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch in effect from this evening through Saturday
morning...

The National Weather Service in Lubbock has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of northwest Texas and the
Panhandle of Texas... including the following areas... in
northwest Texas... Childress... Cottle... Crosby... Dickens...
Floyd... Garza... Hale... Kent... King... Lubbock... Lynn... Motley
and Stonewall. In the Panhandle of Texas... Briscoe... Hall and
Swisher.

* From this evening through Saturday morning

* a complex of thunderstorms is expected to develop along a cold
front moving into the South Plains this evening and lasting
through Saturday morning. Very intense rain rates will occur
with the strongest storms... bringing the risk of inundation and
flash flooding.

* Rapid runoff through saturated soils may result in flash
flooding of urban areas... along rivers and creeks... and other
flood prone areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
