* Gusty north winds will generate some blowing and drifting of the snow.

... Windy and much colder today...
Cold Canadian air was surging into the area this morning... in the wake of an intense upper-level disturbance that crossed the state overnight. Winds were quite strong across the area. The strongest winds... with gusts to nearly 50 mph... were occurring over northern Door County.
Scattered snow showers continued in the Lake Superior snowbelt of north-central Wisconsin. The intensity of the snow in this area will continue to fluctuate as additional snow showers form over Lake Superior and move inland. But overall... the snowfall will not be as persistent or heavy as it was late Thursday evening. Temperatures in this area were generally a couple degrees below freezing... so the snow was able to cover untreated roadways.
At 645 am... radar indicated that the remnants of the main band of precipitation was over the Lakeshore areas of far eastern Wisconsin. It was moving south at 35 mph... and will exit the area by mid-morning. Temperatures over eastern Wisconsin were still just warm enough to allow for a mix of rain and snow with the main band. Scattered snow flurries will linger in the wake of the main band.
The windy weather across the area... and snow in the north... with create hazardous travel conditions. Use extra caution when traveling this morning. Also be sure to dress appropriately for the cold and windy weather.
