Statement as of 11:00 PM PDT on May 24, 2013
For the eastern North Pacific...east of 140 degrees west longitude..
A trough of low pressure located several hundred miles south of
the coast of Mexico is producing disorganized cloudiness and
showers. Development...if any...of this system should be slow to
occur as it moves little during the next couple of days. This
system has a low chance...10 percent...of becoming a tropical
cyclone during the next 48 hours.
Another area of disturbed weather is located about 150 miles
southwest of the coast of Costa Rica. Although this system is not
showing any signs of organization...environmental conditions appear
favorable for some gradual development of this disturbance during
the next couple of days as it drifts westward. This system has a
low chance...20 percent...of becoming a tropical cyclone during the
next 48 hours.
Elsewhere...tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the
next 48 hours.
