Sigh ... the very thing we are told NOT to do, is being done in this photo: drive into water of unknown depth. Yes, it's a compelling, shivers-up-the-spine photo, and you are deserving of the high ratings (and thank you for sharing!), but I always cringe when I see someone doing the very thing they tell others NOT to do. Right after seeing the photos/video of roads that were not only flooded, but also WASHED AWAY in the Northeast, this is even more disconcerting.

Risking damaging a $300k+ piece of taxpayer equipment going through that. Looks like someone needs to go through apparatus operations training again.

That was some storm.

I for one am grateful for the men and women who put themselves in danger to keep us safe regardless of their own safety or the expense of a truck.

Knowing how firemen like to polish their trucks, this truck will be showroom new by the end of the day. Glad there's no regulation preventing them from preforming a rescue until granted safe crossing of high water by the USCG, yet...

People are told not to run in to burning buildings, too. But firefighters get paid to do that. True you can criticize the use of taxpayer dollars, etc. But when lives are in danger, risking a piece of equipment is nothing.

Great rescue shot. If they are like the fire people around here, they know the roads well. We also don't know if someone checked out the road first. These heavy, bigger vehicles can go many places that regular vehicles can't. Look at what military vehicles can do.
