I uploaded this photo once already and it was rejected for having the wrong date. I explained before, but I will explain again. The tornado came through March 2nd but I had just gotten out of the hospital, so I didn't get out to take pictures of the damage until today. This is five miles from my house in Hamilton County, TN.

Yes, my neighbors across the street just moved back in last month after finally getting their home repaired. They had a huge tree through the middle of their roof from one of last year's April 27 tornadoes. Action: \| Ignore User Member Since: March 17, 2005 Comments: 257

I am new - please advise why this photo (& others) would be copyrighted? I have copywrited software & it needs to be registered with library of congress. It is bothersome process. Back to my question - why copyright on a photo of tornado damage. That destruction, ,flooding, fire, etc are everywhere. Maybe the homeowner doesn't want it published??? @acts-- All new photos taken in this country are protected by US copyright law, whether or not the photographer marks them with the copyright symbol. I choose to mark mine so people who want to use them will know who to contact for permission. To answer your accusation: the tornado damage is news. I work for a worldwide nonprofit organization which has been onsite every day since the tornado hit, helping the victims as they work to get their lives back in order. When people see photos of the devastation it prompts them to support the tornado relief efforts, both through volunteering and through financial support. Re: "acts" question: I just had a friend who's photo wasn't copyrighted stolen by someone who distributed it to many advertising agencies worldwide and it's now on many websites, all without her permission or being able to profit from her own work. Any photos posted on here could have the same thing happen. GeorgiaPeach~~Thank you SO much for caring and for keeping the tornado damage in front of us. The mainstream media has "more important" things like elections to focus on, sadly. We need to keep this damage in the forefront of people's minds because the aftereffects will go on for a long time for each affected family. Thanks again for all the comments and concern. They say it was an EF3. We did have EF4 tornadoes last April 27 in Apison, TN and Ringgold, GA. Those hit in the evening and we saw lots of casualties. I think we would have had casualties with this recent tornado, but it hit mostly residential neighborhoods during the day when people were at work or school.
