Sunrise from the 6th floor of the Lafayette General Hospital (hence the small reflections of light). To the left of the parking tower for the hospital's medical office complex is the Oil Center, an area of business in Lafayette that was created by hundreds of oil companies that settled in Lafayette during the oil boom of the 70s and early 80s. They have since moved on due to the oil collapse in the 80s, but other businesses have moved in to take their places.

I got into photography after I was shot in the line of duty as a police officer back in 2007 and forced out of uniform. I continue to serve, but as a plain clothes detective. Even after 6 years, I continue to undergo numerous surgeries to correct the damage done from the shooting (14 so far). I have also enjoyed the field of astronomy since I was a child. Now with my passion for photography, I am delving into the world of astrophotography. My life's philosophy is very simple...when in a life or death situation, as long as you're breathing you're good and never give up the fight. Also, God and family come first. There is nothing more important that that.
