Montana isn't what it used to be. Lots of oil industry has moved into the state. Some places it is now hard to even breath because of the air pollution. You can also see the pollution in a lot of the valleys.
great contrast and interesting "vertical" effects (trees and mountain ridges." Was surprised about 8.3 score. I think some may have missed those interesting points. I saw a 10 in it because of that. Nice job.
Yeah, as others say this is a great shot - I think lower average score because it could use more sharpness - try improving for next time, cheers. (But from a train, not so easy - can't you people give picson' some slack and some better ratings!)
I have ridden that train through Glacier a number of times. The views from the train are breathtaking and I have taken lots of photos.
I think your images would improve if you used a faster shutter speed, your 1/80 sec. is not nearly fast enough for a clear image from a moving train. Also, Amtrak is not known for its clean windows, that can be a problem, too. Keep trying, its worth the effort, in my opinion.
I always carry a black cloth in my bag. I drape it over my lens as I put it very near the glass. It cuts out almost all reflections. I have also been known to carry glass cleaner when I am going to be on a vehicle with windows I might want to shoot out of. Even so my hit rate is low. I really like this shot.
