Comparing color and B&W, this picture gives more power and textures to the sky, mountains, meadow without the distraction of color ! Not all picture is suitable for B&W, this one is (at least for me) Thanks for sharing. Dark Broomer
Though a bit of an overstatement, an old Wall Street Journal editor once said (as he defended the paper's lack of colorful photos): Color is the refuge of people who have nothing to say.
It should be noted that this is more than a straight conversion to B/W. Either automatically or through the photographer's skilled manipulation (in Photoshop or whatever), the blue of the sky was darkened prior to conversion to B/W, giving the B/W version a stunningly dark sky. A straight conversion to B/W would have been wholly unimpressive. Kudos the photographer for knowing when and how to properly use digital enhancement to the best effect. Now, if only a handful of so-called "HDR" posters on this board could find a similar understanding and restraint.
