I see where the New River valley is not too far from Blacksburg, VA. I've been to Blacksburg and traveled south down I-81 as far as it goes. The country in southwest Virginia is very similar to the Shenandoah Valley with more hills and less flat land. Just as beautiful though. The mountains in the area are just an extension of the Blue Ridge which forms the eastern edge of the Shenandoah valley.
