This was taken in the Death Valley on a day when the temperature reached 124°F (51°C), in a place called Furnace Creek. That's hotter than the hottest day ever recorded in Phoenix (122°F). I just wanted to experience extreme heat, but in hindsight it probably wasn't good for marital relations...my wife never really forgave me for bringing her to the Death Valley in the middle of summer. The valley is aptly named...we were told that 3 people died that summer hiking on trails and not being adequately prepared for the heat.
Although I don't like the cold, that's another extreme I'd like to experience someday. Fairbanks, AK in the middle of February sounds good.
I love weather phenomena. Wunderground is the best weather site I've found on the net - been coming here since '98. And as the handle implies, I like it when it gets hot! Humidity too - no problem. Maybe I'll choose MrHumidity as my handle next time. Oh well, not much humidity here in California anyway - at least not in the summertime.
